Heritage of the Andalusian Universities

Universities

In 1968, the University of Málaga Friends Association was set up. This organization tirelessly campaigned for a university to be founded in the province, and eventually achieved its goal. Key milestones in the founding process included the creation of the University College of Málaga, in 1971, and the merging of the pre-existing Technical Engineering College, Teacher Training College, School of Economics and Business (then under the auspices of the University of Granada) and the Seminary.

Finally, on 18 August 1972, the founding of the University of Málaga was approved by decree. The Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Medicine were the first to become part of the institution we know today as the University of Málaga.
