Rectorate (Former Post Office Building)

Description

The building, designed by Teodoro de Anasagasti, was opened in 1923 and originally conceived as a post office. Its Neo-Mudéjar style constitutes an architectural milestone of great significance. The ground-plan is square, with rounded corners on the main façade, into which round towers are set. The left-hand tower rises above the building and features roofing in a style that lends an oriental touch. While an ornate building, it nevertheless maintains a balance between aesthetics and, above all, functionality.

It fulfilled its role as a post office until 1986. It was later renovated for its present role of Rectorate of the University of Málaga.
