UNTITLED

Description

This work forms part of one of the artist’s small-format series from 2009 and 2012, produced by means of bronze casting (gasification). Its rounded, organic forms and angular curves evoke the silhouette of a bird.

Miguel Fuentes (Andújar, 1940) works both with concrete, in large-scale pieces of a more architectural nature, and with experimental new materials in his sculptural pieces. He is considered a pioneer, at an international level, in the field of research on the digitalization of sculptural forms, and has earned a reputation among critics as an innovator.

It is difficult to categorise his artistic output within a specific aesthetic genre, though perhaps it can be likened to Abstract Informalism and Expressionism.

His commitment to freedom and democratic values, clearly reflected in his work, was recognised publicly in 2010, when he was awarded the prestigious Medal of Andalusia for his contribution to Fine Art.
